Jai Catalano was born and raised in Manhattan New York in December of 1971. At an early age Jai developed his skills in Bowling, Martial Arts, and Gymnastics. After High School Jai took interest in the music business. He soon found himself writing and arranging rap songs.

After performing at multiple venues, Jai started promoting parties at certain events he was performing at. During his musical endevour, Jai enrolled in the City University of New York's Hunter College. At age 19 Jai went to Hunter full time, created music and shopped his demo, as well as owned his own business Soho Graphics Inc. Seven years later Jai graduated Hunter with a double major in Psychology and Human Communications.

At age 26, Jai inquired about salsa classes at Sandra Cameron dance school in Manhattan. Within a month Jai became one of the best students on 1 in his class. His obsession had grown so rapidly that he sought out Eddie Torres after a friend had introduced the idea to him. Eddie treated Jai with such interest and precision that after 4 months he was asked to join the Eddie Torres Jammers. After performing for 2 years with the Eddie Torres troupe, Jai & his partner Candy Mena started performing both nationally and internationally as a duet. He has danced for several artists including Tito Puente & Celia Cruz and has been featured as a dancer and actor in the off Broadway Dancical Latin Madness. Today, Jai is considered one of New York & New Jersey's best salsa dancer, performer, and instructor worldwide.
